🎨🎶 Artistic Collaborations Welcome
I welcome artistic collaborations, including projects involving visual art, music (including classical music), and dance.
I regularly do expressive and structured dance and have training in visual art, piano, and singing, with experience in choirs. I’ve also written some lyrical songs and enjoy blending poetry, languages, imagery, and sound. I come from a family that valued creative humor and that has long patronized the arts and, as a child, I regularly attended performances. My maternal grandmother, Mary Morse Kenny, studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and was a passionate pianist. My maternal great-great uncle, Maurice René Coste, was a touring actor and singer who performed across North America in vaudeville and silent films. His brother Eugene Coste, a natural gas pioneer alongside my great-great grandfather Denis Coste, had built the now historic Coste House, which later became home to the nationally renowned Calgary Allied Arts Centre. (No, I’m not rich; in those days, entrepreneurs cared less about descendants and “more modest branches” 😄). Sadly, I am still unable to recover any letters in the family about the performances there to add to my family life writing, or any other writing on my maternal side, and only dry essays on natural gas theory by Eugene Coste, though in more general news he is referred to as fiercely independent and stubborn in thought and quick-tempered—ancestral traits appearing in many of these relations owing to intellectual curiosity and a fixation on high standards. Fortunately, Lithuanian cousins, on my paternal side, have provided engaging accounts of survival during the Soviet occupation and painterly details of their lives.
